Midmark Updates Midmark IQecg® to Improve Clinician Workflow and Promote Better Outcomes

Dayton, OH
DAYTON, Ohio, July 20, 2016 — Midmark Corporation, a leading medical solutions provider for ambulatory care, today introduced a new Midmark IQecg® Digital ECG with an interface that helps simplify testing and support more-informed cardiac assessments. From accessing the patient chart, setting up and performing the patient’s test and seamlessly saving information to the chart, the new interface is designed to help improve technician and physician workflows and patient outcomes.

The Midmark IQecg is an easy-to-use, digital, interpretive 12-lead resting ECG solution that is designed to work with the industry’s top electronic medical record systems (EMRs) to save time, reduce the likelihood of errors and enhance patient care. Unlike other digital ECG solutions currently on the market, the Midmark IQecg interface allows technicians to instantly capture the ECG waveform shown on-screen with a simple click of a mouse, helping to ensure they do not miss an abnormal event when it occurs. Until now, the standard has been that the 10 seconds after the technician’s action were captured. Uniquely, the IQecg enables technicians to capture the previous 10 seconds before the mouse was clicked.

“Healthcare organizations and practitioners are eagerly looking for innovative technology, new approaches and proven processes that increase efficiency, improve return on investments and raise the quality of care being provided,” said Kurt Forsthoefel, marketing director, medical products and services, Midmark. “At Midmark, we are continuously focused on enriching experiences between caregivers and their patients. The Midmark IQecg with its new interface that simplifies the ECG testing process is the latest example of that commitment.”

The Midmark IQecg is compact and portable, making it easy to move where the patient is located without negatively impacting caregiver/patient interaction. The interface’s new screen layouts and color schemes, electronic calipers, on-screen side-by-side comparison and editing tools combine a traditional physician review workflow. These technological advancements help enhance existing workflows without forcing caregivers to overhaul existing processes.

Easy-to-use electronic calipers enable caregivers to precisely measure any waveforms in the review screen, which is designed with a large ECG display area for easier physician review of tracings. The display’s side-by-side comparison allows caregivers to compare the current ECG with any previous ECG of the patient to help diagnose any changes. The Midmark IQecg interfaces with most EMR systems so caregivers can easily access patient charts without retyping patient information, helping reduce potential data entry errors and patient wait time. Technicians can also review the quality of the test before saving it to the patient’s chart and have the option to retest, if needed.

The Midmark IQecg is a component of the Midmark IQ Digital Diagnostic System. This collection of easy-to-use digital diagnostic devices and software solutions, which also includes Midmark IQvitals®, Midmark IQholter® and Midmark IQspiro®, enables physicians and caregivers to quickly and accurately capture, interpret and retrieve patient information at the point of care.
