Taking Care of the Caregiver

The work of a care team matters. For people who spend every workday taking care of other people, it may be easy to overlook their own care. But, the rate of injury in this population underscores the importance of caring for caregivers.

Research shows that 1 out of every 5 injuries reported in the United States are healthcare related, and back, shoulders, neck and wrists account for most caregiver pain. Behind those numbers are real people with real lives, families and passions. At Midmark, we want to do everything we can to help them live fulfilling lives, both at work and at home.

Most healthcare professionals are aware that when technology is added to a clinical environment, the risk of ergonomic-related injuries for caregivers will increase. But, contrary to popular belief, we’ve found that a common sit-to-stand solution does not do enough to properly support a wide variety of body types and sizes.

To help improve the daily work of medical teams, we worked with more than 20 facilities across the United States to create a workstation designed to support the needs of users in the 5th percentile of height (5’0” female) and the 95th percentile of height (6’4” male), and everyone in between. After hearing from healthcare staff with roles across IT, operations, ergonomics, facilities, designers, clinical care and more, we created the next generation of Midmark workstations to help keep caregivers focused on what matters most: providing great care to their patients. Midmark workstations are the only mobile workstations on the market to support 95 percent of users and support a full range of technology, including the large monitors required by some of today's most-used EMRs.

Providing great care doesn’t have to come at the cost of a caregiver’s own well-being. Midmark workstations help caregivers work smarter and more comfortably.
