Midmark RTLS Announces Validated RTLS Integration for Responder Enterprise

Jul 8, 2019, 09:08 AM

DAYTON, Ohio and Mt. Prospect, Ill., July 8, 2019— Midmark RTLS*, a leading provider of patient flow, staff workflow, and asset tracking technology today announced a validated integration between the Midmark real-time locating system (RTLS) and Rauland’s Responder Enterprise nurse call platform.

Midmark RTLS has been enhancing Rauland’s nurse call platform with location data since 1997 and is implemented in hundreds of healthcare facilities nationwide. The new integration builds on this long-standing relationship and continues the companies’ combined commitment to optimizing nurse workflow.

RTLS is integral to Rauland’s next-generation Enterprise platform, which allows health systems to standardize care models and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) across hospitals. The location intelligence provided by RTLS enables Enterprise to provide more accurate comparisons and benchmarking, leading to greater standardization and measurable performance improvement.

As with previous integrations, the Midmark RTLS Bridge to Responder Enterprise uses the real-time location of nurses and other staff to:

Automatically log responses to patient calls, allowing the nurse to immediately focus on patient care without pressing a call-cancel button.

Accurately document response times by recording responses immediately when a nurse enters the patient room.

Automatically collect data on time spent at the bedside, providing unbiased insight for staffing strategies, resource allocation and process improvement efforts.

Communicate the status of a nursing unit at a glance by automating nurse presence lights.

Automate call escalation to Staff Assistance if the patient call button is pressed and staff are already present in the room, enhancing patient and staff safety.

In the initial release of the Midmark RTLS Bridge, hospitals can assign RTLS badges natively in Responder Enterprise, improving workflow and staff satisfaction. Future releases will also include integration of the Midmark RTLS badge button press and other messages such as badge battery status.

“In today’s changing healthcare environment, doing more with fewer resources is constant,” said Jeff Wells, Vice President, Workflow Technologies at Midmark. “Enhancing the Rauland platform with Midmark RTLS allows for greater clinical workflow standardization while saving time and steps for caregivers, helping them to focus more fully on their patients. I can’t think of a more rewarding endeavor in product development.”
