Do You Qualify?

An eligible medical practice may elect to apply the credit against its income tax liability. Generally, to be eligible for the Section 44 credit, the medical practice must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

Annual gross receipts of the practice did not exceed $1,000,000 during the preceding tax year.

OR
02

The practice had no more than 30 full-time employees during the preceding tax year.

IRC Section 44 provides a tax credit to eligible small businesses that incur expenses to make their facilities accessible to individuals with disabilities. Eligible businesses are those with gross receipts of $1 million or less, or 30 or fewer full-time employees. Qualified expenses are those incurred to make a business more accessible to individuals with disabilities; and the credit amount is 50% of eligible expenditures between $250 and $10,250 for a maximum credit of $5,000 per year. IRC Section 179 expensing deduction is in lieu of depreciation and is subject to dollar limits.
